We are excited to announce the dates for BlueTech Forum 2023 which will be held May 17th and 18th in Edinburgh, Scotland.

The Theme

We believe, the global water and climate dialogue is seeing a shift away from making the environment ‘less-worse’ and towards initiating regrowth and regeneration.

Radical collaborations between industry and the supply chain are now needed if bold ambitions are to be realised and we believe this event allows us all to take the first cooperative steps towards a future that includes a vision of regeneration

With this in mind, we are delighted to announce that BlueTech Forum 2022, will have the theme Radical Collaboration for Regeneration, and will seek to catalyse new partnerships to enable companies to achieve their water and carbon goals. The team and I are working on building an immersive and inspiring experience to bring the story of water to life and ensure enduring impact.

BlueTech Research founder and chief executive Paul O’Callaghan said: “What struck me about Paul’s work, is the message of hope and optimism.

“His seminal work, Drawdown, was a practical can-do guide on ways to reverse global warming. Positive and solutions-oriented, it resonated very strongly with me, so I reached out to Paul to discuss how we can take a similar approach to solving the water crisis.

“I was delighted and honoured when he graciously accepted our invitation to provide a keynote address at BlueTech Forum. The audience represents a powerful community of change-makers and this keynote will send a very intentional message.”

Other confirmed Bluenotes include:

  • Sarah Ichioka– Her latest book, Flourish: Design Paradigms for Our Planetary Emergency, co-authored with Michael Pawlyn, proposes a bold set of regenerative design principles for addressing compound environmental and social crises.
  • Matthijs Schouten, Environmental Philosopher whose latest book Spiegel van de natuur; het natuurbeeld in cultuurhistorisch perspectief (Nature’s mirror; the image of nature in a cultural-historical perspective) has formed the basis for the exhibition World Nature Art in the Nieuwe Kerk in Amsterdam
  • Mark Nelson, Original Biospherian, Ecologist & Author – one of the original ‘biospherians’ and we’re honoured that he will be joining us to share his fascinating story
  • Wade Davis, Anthropologist, and “a rare combination of scientist, scholar, poet and passionate defender of all of life’s diversity.” Author of The Wayfinders: Why Ancient Wisdom Matters in the Modern World.
  • Dr. Adriana Marais – She is currently completing a book How the Voyage to Mars will Evolve Earth, describing how through technological advancement and an enhanced perspective of reality and our place in it, living on Mars will enable us to become better stewards of Earth and equip us for the beginning of our journey into the stars.
  • Erica Gies – Author of Water Always Wins: Thriving In An Age of Drought and Deluge. Erica calls her efforts the ‘Slow Water’ movement. Slow Water solutions are place-specific and community oriented. They center on water’s relationships with rocks, microbes, plants, and animals, including humans.
  • Our interactive programme will include workshops, end-user sessions, roundtable discussions and the BlueTech Innovation Showcase, with sessions centring on key research themes such as water quality, decentralised innovations, creative communications, circular cities and cyber-security. A hands-on team activity for delegates is also being planned with BioMatrix Water and Metro Vancouver, involving the creation of nature-based solutions, allowing us to leave a lasting positive impact on the water environment of Vancouver.

Our sessions and group activities are being carefully planned to tell the story of water in a meaningful and tangible way, with our host venues – both with sustainability and innovation at their heart – providing an awe-inspiring backdrop to proceedings. The result will be an immersive experience, that goes beyond what might be expected at a traditional conference.

As a valued member of the water community, I look forward to your participation in June 2022.

    Kind regards

    The BlueTech Research Team
